Poster holder or shop window display: which suits your window?
An LED poster holder is cheap per piece, but every change means printing, hanging and taking posters down. A shop window display costs more at the start and shows your listings from your agency software, so a sold property disappears the same day.
Many estate agents show their properties on posters in the shop window, often in an LED poster holder (also called a light pocket) or an LED light box. That works, and it is cheap per piece. This guide compares the poster holder with a shop window display, on five points.
The work with every change
For a new property, you print a poster and slide it into the holder. For a price change, you print it again. When a property is sold, you take the poster down.
With a screen, the property is in your agency software. The screen shows what is there. You put nothing up and take nothing down.
A sold property that stays in the window
On paper, a sold property stays in the window until someone notices. It is a small mistake, but a passer-by sees it.
On a screen, a sold or let property disappears the same day, as soon as its status changes in your agency software.
The mandatory details
On a poster, you type or stick on the EPC and the other details yourself, for every property. A screen takes them over from your agency software. Whatever is missing there is missing on the screen too. Which details apply in each region is explained in the guide on mandatory listing details in the shop window.
What a passer-by sees in the evening
An LED poster holder or LED light box lights up a poster. That keeps the window legible after closing time as well, but each holder shows one poster. A window with several holders takes up more space.
A screen can also be on in the evening and shows many properties one after another. A window with one screen therefore shows more properties than a window with one holder.
The costs
An A4 holder with LED lighting costs about 150 to 165 euros each in online shops, including VAT. Those are the prices on 3 October 2026. On top of that comes the printing, for every poster and every change.
With a shop window display, you pay for the screen and its installation once, on a quote from an installation partner in your region. On top of that, it costs €39 per screen per month, on an annual contract. That includes the integration with your agency software, the design in your house style, the updates and the support. Read more on the pricing page.
When a poster holder is enough
A poster holder is enough in three cases:
- You have one or two properties in the shop window and they rarely change.
- Your window is very small, so no screen fits in it.
- You do not work with agency software, so a screen has nothing to take over.
Then the holder is the cheaper choice. A screen only pays off if you show more properties or make changes often. How much work you save depends on your agency.

Frequently asked questions
What does an LED poster holder for the shop window cost?
An A4 holder with LED lighting costs about 150 to 165 euros each in online shops, including VAT. Those are the prices on 3 October 2026. A holder for several posters costs more. The prints cost extra.
When is a poster holder a better choice than a screen?
With one or two properties in the shop window, with a very small window or if you do not use agency software. A holder is then cheaper and does what you need.
Can I combine poster holders and a screen in the same shop window?
Yes. A screen can hang next to your holders, or take the place of some of them. You choose how many posters you keep.
With a poster holder, do I have to add the mandatory details to every poster myself?
Yes. On a printed poster, you add the EPC and the other details yourself, for every property again. With a screen, they come from your agency software. Whatever is missing there is missing on the screen too.
How much work is it to fill a poster holder?
For each property, you print a poster, trim or fold it and slide it into the holder. When the property is sold, you take it out again. That remains a task for someone in the office.
